Great Days In Lower Sunbury

A Memory of Sunbury.

I have read the memories on this site and can relate to most.My name is Alan Webb,i was born in Sunbury in 1949 and moved to Cornwall in 1990.I went to nursery road and K M secondary school.Remember going night fishing, and waiting for dots café to open and playing the juke box.My fav then was Chris farlow out of time.I lived in Batavia road at the time,i loved when Kempton was on we made money by looking after cars parked down our street.I remember the old outdoor pool,we would wait on the steps of the pool on the first Saturday in Mayt to buy season tickets. The pool then was filled with river water. The first lifeguard I remember was big John. One of best things was,we used to climb over the mens turnstiles swim across the river, climb back straight in the pool,if felt like a warm bath.If anybody has old photos of the pool I would love them.alan.webb86@yahoo.co.uk You may know my brother and sisters,Philip Webb, jennifer and Pauline.

I too attended Nursery Road Junior School (a mile walk) but born August 1952 I was 3 years behind you. After that I went to Matthew Arnold Girls School. We first lived in a flat above the butcher on Bridge street, access was from Station Road. This all gave way to the roundabout of course. Before that 6 roads intersected at the clock tower and it never got hit. Where is it now? I remember there was a dairy just before the station but cannot remember its name.
Alison, the clock tower is still there, beside the roundabout and the name of the Dairy was Jobs - I was a milk boy for them but in the '70's
We lived in Station Road until 1968. The dairy was called Jobs. I remember the butcher in Bridge Street... I was scared stiff of the cashier because she only had one leg, but by all accounts she was a lovely lady.
