Long Street, which was once known as West Street, has been the main artery of Tetbury since at least the 16th century. There are some fine buildings here, many of them ancient, but one or two are deceptive - The Ormond's Head, for example. Originally an Elizabethan building, this was knocked down in late Victorian times and rebuilt as a mock coaching inn.

This is a photograph of the house where I was born. My parents bought the house in Long Street, Tetbury when they got married in 1937, I was born in 1939 and my brother followed five years later. This house is very old and very beautiful and fifty three years later I still miss it.
