Memories of Trebanos
Can Anyone Help?
I live in America and recently discovered some letters written by a seventeen year old girl from your area in Wales back in 1937-38. She and my late mother were pen pals, and corresponded frequently. The girl's name was Elvina, born October 5, 1920. I have no last name. The return address on the letters is: Graig Road, Trebanos, Swansea. I even have a lovely photo of her on holiday in Pleasure Park, Barry Island, Glam! I would love to communicate either with Elvina or her descendants and return these letters and picture. Thank you!

James W Randall (b1933)
I have never been to Pontardawe, I am actually looking for anyone who knows my father and his family. His name was James William Randall, his mother was Louie May Randall (nee Lobb), his father George W Randal.. Anyone with any information please get in touch. Many thanks Kirsty
It's not a memory or not mine anyway, I'm hoping it might be yours... I'm looking for information on my Great Grandad, Walter Payne, born around 1891, I think he originated from London, he married Kate Thompson and live in Cwmgorse. Any help please email me :)
Growing up in Clydach
I was brought up in this small village, lived at 1, St John's Road with my grandparents Frank and Emily Potter. Then, when the prefabs were built in Graig-Felen, my parents and my two sisters moved there. My dad and mum, Bill and Leonora Potter, took us to St Benedics Cathloic Church on Trebanos Road, and we attended St Joseph's Convent, where we were taught my nuns! Our names were Margaret, Kathleen and Frances Potter. I can remember going to Clydach baths, this is where I learned to swim as a six year old. The Globe cinema on a Saturday morning. As I got older the miners club, down a dark old passage where we went on a Tuesday night to listen to all the seventies music! Passing the abattoir on a Tues, hearing all the pigs being slaughtered, the smell! We played on the park, the falls, the river, the woods I can go on and on, the childhood memories are endless... I hope someone can help me. All I know from the census is that my great grandparents and their family, Mr David and Mrs Hannah Gorge, lived in Craig-Cefn-Parc. Their children were Catherine, Phillip,John, May and Jennet who married my grandfather, Thomas Griffiths, from Abergwili, Carmarthen - my father's father. I have found out about Thomas and Jennet and their family but know nothing about the Gorge family, or if any of them or their descendents are still alive.
