Used to love Woolworths and remember the street looking like the photo in the forties. When I got my sixpence pocket money, I always wanted to spend it there. My older brother would take me with him and can remember stretching and straining to see over the counter where all the goods were laid and priced in little compartments with the shop girl central. Sometimes someone would pick me up so I could see. Sixpence went a long way then and I would come back with little colouring books and pencils etc - I have always loved stationery! Sad to see Woolworths demise.....
