Brockworth, St George's Church And Brockworth Court c.1950

More about this scene
Today, Brockworth is altogether urbanised, a suburb of Gloucester. But when this photograph was taken, it was a village with its own character and community. The tranquil scene captured here reminds us how large-scale housing development in the past few decades has changed the nature of so many former villages. Brockworth church is late Norman and 13th-century, while the adjacent Brockworth Court dates from the 16th century and was built for the last prior of Llanthony.
