I remember there being a Baker who delivered around Stanwell. I cannot remember his name , does anybody remember him?
I lived at Hithermoor Farm,Stanwell Moor from birth in 1951 until 1973.We farmed part of the Reservoirs and a large chunk of Greenhams Gravel Pit land. Many happy memories.Started school at Shortwood,Staines in 1956 with Mrs McLoughlin as teacher.Then school moved to Lord Knivets at Stanwell with Mr Fox and Mrs Staples.I always remember Mrs Lavender,the Caretaker giving us boys conkers.After about a year,moved ...see more
My goodness, some of the articles brought back so many good memories. I lived at Riverside Place and went to Lord Knyvitts School around 1957. The milk that iced up in the morning at school and the newspaper I was required to tear up for toilet paper, who knows how the toilets didn’t block up especially in winter when the water in the bowl iced up. Wow !! what a trip down memory lane, i read all the memories and can relate to most of them. We moved to Stanwell in the early 50's after my Father got a job at BOAC , my mum ended up at BEA at Hatton Cross. We lived in Everest Road, just off Clare Rd, the only house there for a while until they built the rest of the estate. I ended up ...see more
