More about this scene

The Old Ouse river runs through both Upwell and Outwell, the next village downstream. The county boundary between Cambridgeshire and Norfolk actually runs along the middle of the river at this point, so the church is in Norfolk, while the pub is in Cambridgeshire!

A Selection of Memories from Upwell

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Upwell

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I'm trying to find where Yew House would have been in 1911, can anyone remember this house? It would have been big as it had 8 rooms .. possibly Croft Road. I'm researching my Turner relatives namely John Bilney Turner. Would love any response please .
Upwell Norfolf was the home of my husband's ancestor Charles Overland (1817-1908). We recently visited Upwell and saw the church and a tombstone of a George Overland but could find no more. Memories were passed down over the years and Charles Overland (1935-) named his very successful bus company Upwells Ltd here in Ontario, Canada. The George may have been a son.
