My Walk Home From Work.

A Memory of Wallsend.

If I could have picked the ideal weather,
for my walk home from work today.
It just could not have been improved upon,
it was perfect in every way.
A clear blue sky,bright sunshine,
not a breath of wind throughout.
As I set foot outside in Kenton,
then I traced my usual route.
Warm Autumn sun upon my face,
and in my step a kind of spring.
As I walked through my old stomping ground,
I wondered what this morn would bring.
I made my way along Ashburton,
Where I paused and reminisced.
recalling lives and times that I once shared,
Those special folk I really missed.
Then onwards into Jesmond Dene,
to this great place I often go.
Our present from Lord Armstrong ,where
I love to hear the water flow.
I glimpsed sunshine upon the Dragonfly,
such bright and vivid greeny blues.
As it enjoyed the morning sunlight.
hovering just above the Ouse.
Then all to soon I'd walked right through,
to Armstrong Bridge, yon side.
Just as Elbow on my Mp3 sang,
"Throw those curtains wide"
I walk this route quite often ,
and I'm invariably inspired.
Of Jezzy Dene and all it's beauty,
I shall never ever tire!!

James Bridgewood.
