More about this scene

Walsden is a former woollen town in the Calder Gap between Yorkshire and Lancashire, just to the south of Todmorden. The Rochdale Canal, seen here in the foreground, runs through the valley, and brought jobs and prosperity to the town. The spire of the parish church watches over the town school in the background.
