Whittlebury Lodge College

A Memory of Whittlebury.

Dear Whittlebury Alumni,
I have many pictures of my late Dad Sunil Bramdaw's stay at Whittlebury in the early 60s.
First a student at Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire and subsequently at Whittlebury Lodge College in Northampton.
Here he excelled at sport, achieving several distinctions; being awarded colours in cricket, athletics and football.
His ability as a young leader saw him rise to house captain and school captain to the cricket and athletics teams at national competitions. Indeed, his ability as a spin bowler saw him earn the name `Subtle Sunil’ from the former Indian Army Major Hyde-Upwood, who taught at Whittlebury.
In 1959, he was made Head Boy, being the first learner of colour to be so honoured.
He returned to South Africa in 1962.
If any of you remember him or would like to see the photos, please email me at nirode@bramdaw.co.za
Kind regards,
Nirode
