Shops I Visited

A Memory of Bristol

I can remember my parents taking me to a furniture shop at the bottom of Union St, opposite the cinema which a friend of my father ran. I have tried and tried to remember the name with no luck - it was in the late fifties - can anyone remember it.

Hello going from memory the shop was called Phillips. It had the distinction of having the bosses first Rolls Royce converted into a delivery van. A picture of the van used to hang on the wall of the loading bay.

  • How does it feature in your personal history?
  • What are your best memories of this place?
  • How has it changed over the years?
  • How does it feel, seeing these places again?
  • Do you remember stories about the community, its history & people?
