Nostalgic memories of Edmonton's local history

Share your own memories of Edmonton and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

My first memory being outside Mrs Lindsay's shop with my mother a few days after we moved there, when the air-raid siren went.and a Mrs Wilson took us into her house for shelter. I have lots more memories, including being in the choir at St Helen's church, if there is any interest. Ken Craze
Those of you who are familiar with Surrey history of the 20th century will not fail to have heard of Brooklands Race Circuit (1909-39). At a later date, possibly post war, what was known as Brooklands House became a College. My Father taught quite a wide range of subjects there between 1957 and 1977. Through his influence and helped by an Open Door policy, all the subjects that I wanted to take up and also ...see more

Born in the North Mid like most people my age (1931), I lived my first 25 years at Tottenham Hale, at the end of Brograve Rd., facing the Station Green. The green had a nice fence around it before the war when hundreds of people crossed the green on their way to the Lebus Furniture factory that was on the other side of the railroad tracks. Ferry Lane started at the Hale and went east, through large ...see more
I was born in 1949 in a prefab in St Malo Ave just off Town Rd. Things were tough for Mum and Dad as he was invalid and unable to work. I really never noticed for a few years and just tried to explore and enjoy the world around me even though it consisted mainly of an overgrown garden and a bomb site down the road. My most vivid memory at 3 was accidentally locking myself in the toilet and then being ...see more
