Probably Strangely Out Of Place At Hawthorns.

It was 1952 or '53. I was one of a few young boys boarded at Hawthorns in those Post-War days. I was sequestered there while my parents toured the United States for a year. I didn't remember them when they returned. My grandmother taught at Hawthorns in those days, which is probably how I ended up there after some horrible experiences in London schools. Fourth Avenue
not so much a memory but query? we had family living at glamis (lodge?) around 1900 is the house still there??

Best Time

I used to be a boarder at the best school at Hawthorn School for girls in Second ave have great memories of my time there was sad when we had to leave and move to bishop stortford does anyone else remember the School

Drapers Shop Connaught Avenue
My great great grandmother, Eliza Hone, ran a Drapers Shop in Station Rd (later Connaught Avenue), after she was widowed from the late 1800's and she was included on 1901 & 1911Census's. My grandmother, Edith Victoria Adelaide Howe, was born there in 1897. I don't have any photos and only found out what I know from using Ancestry sites. I don't know what brought her to Frinton or when she left. Does anyone have any info please? Diane

Walking To Walton In The Early 1960s
My grandparents lived in Frinton-on-Sea from 1959 and as a child I would regularly stay with them in their bungalow for a week or so each school summer holiday. Every holiday my brother and I looked forward to a visit to Walton Pier for the penny arcade and the thrill rides. Ice Cream On The Way To The Beach In The Early 1960s
My grandparents moved to Frinton-On-Sea in 1959 and for the whole of my childhood I spent a week or so of every school summer holiday with them in their bungalow. I clearly remember walking down Connaught Avenue with my brother and grandfather on the way to the beach. The picture shows the end of the avenue closest to the sea. One Of The Nicest Places In The World
In 1998 I travelled to a beautiful town in England called Frinton- on-Sea, a very unique and special place - where everyone is very friendly, clean and helpful. I would say Frinton is like no other town in England - some of the shops have not changed decor since the 1950's 60's or 70's --- the pawn shops are the best for gifts and notions. Frinton- on- Sea is a jewel of  a town - a little bit of ol' England.
