Does anyone remember the children's home in Packhorse Road called Crosfield House? I lived there from 1952 to 1965. I don't seem to be able to track down any photos of the home so if anyone has any or even remembers the place, would love to hear from you.
This is a photo full of memories for me, too. We lived in Tatling End (Brokengate Lane) from 1941 to 1954, so Gerrards Cross was more than familiar to me! In the photo on the right, you can see the garage/petrol station where I got my first holiday job in 1960, and my mum was an assistant in WH Smith's just opposite (on left in photo). I was born in Gerrards Cross in 1943 and lived my young happy childhood days there. My father H. W. Payne ran a cycle shop at what was then 31, Station Parade. Many friends lived in the railway cottages near the rail station. A parade of shops now on this site and the village school pulled down long ago I suspect.
