Dawnay Road

Dawnay Road c1955

I was born in Dowlans Road, opposite to Dawnay Road. The grocers which is referred to was where my mum used to shop. Next to the grocers my best friend Nigel lived, as did Dave Hill before him. The waste ground to the left in the photo was a bit of a dumping ground. We, Dave and me, found some old paint tins one day and we took them into the rec and painted the swings, white. You can imagine our mums and dads when they found out. We were only about 6 years old at the time.

RE: RE: Dawnay Road

I like to check out these Memories every so often to see if I know anyone posting Memories. I lived in Bookham until 1964 when I got married. Know live in Vancouver B.C. Are you by any chance the same Norman Watson from Sole Farm Ave ? I used to live at # 4. My surname then was Carr.

RE: RE: Dawnay Road

I lived in Dowlans Road from 1934 until 1952. I was errand boy for Harry Absolom from 1942 to 1945 when I left Howard of Effingham School to Start work. Are you the son of Ian Watson who lived in Dowlans Road? Regards, Len Saunders
