My Boots in Banks Pond
In 1944 three brothers were evacuees in Haddenham, we lived with an old couple named Mr and Mrs Saw in a house, I think it was named Dolly Cote House next to a farm, this was a long time ago but one thing I know is that one of my boots is in Banks Pond as my brother put it in there, if Banks Pond has not been drained it has been in there for 67 years! One of the best two years of my childhood.

RE: RE: My Boots in Banks Pond
Hi Len, the memories of Haddenham will always be with us, as you said they were fantastic years that will remain with us forever. There are to many times that we can recall, and not one that O would change for the earth. Actually Len, what would you do with an old boot that was utility - made in the war, if they found it. God bless the Saw family, that boarded the three of us, third member of the family is Gordon the eldest that kept us on the straight and narrow. After migrating to Australia in 1965, I appreciate the times Len took me to Haddenham, when visiting England my home country. The country-side and thatched cottages have not changed not in my eyes and memory. If any of the Saw family are still alive, thanks to your past relatives for allowing us in to their lives. And Len the Saw family owned the dairy farm, and the land opposite Dolicot House, the side of the house which was the milking shed has now become homes which are named The Byres.. Stan Friday
