Yes Thats Me Outside Woolworths

1955 What an Eventful day that was ,with my Pocket money earned from the Farm , and Hedges of Hagbourne , I went for my Customary Hair Cut at Aubrey Gay's only to find it Chocker Block , So I Ventured into Mr . Bill Street's ,and He gave me more that a Trim , It Looked like a conscription haircut ,I Then Consoled myself with a trip to Woolies . Didcot was a real good town then ,had all toughs big ...see more

Broadway Has Not Changed ! Though Woollies Has Gone.

My Family lived here in 1955.- Dad worked in Army Police, Mum was a Housewife. I remember riding on the back of my Mum"s bike - playing near the woods with my sister (prohibited!) - travelling on the last steam train to Wallingford, and having to walk 1/2 mile to school every day along Park Road (past the famous Tin Peas Factory). But the Best memory was buying my 1st 7 inch ...see more
