I was in this same home it looks the same but I thought it was called greygables
Grey gables was next door it had the walled garden and round garden house from memory we just had trees back to what I thing was the nation Westminster training center behinds and the valley opposite side of the road
The building here is not familar it must be grey gables with hillgarth to its west
My mum and her siblings were in Hilgarth the Hoadleys do you remember any of them? My mum is Eileen her sister Fran known as Rosie brother Freddy ray Gordon and Brian? Xxxx
Yes this looks like Grey Gables although I could be wrong. If it is the place, then in 1972 I knelt down near the shrub in the right foreground and landed on a bumble bee. That was a stinger! I lived in Grey Gables from 1968 to 1976.
I lived in this home but its not there anymore it's been built on but I know the gardeners house is still at the back plus what's left of the round house. I lived there with my sister and 2 brothers I have so many good memories there I don't know why it was knocked down it had so much history I loved playing in the golden valley I went to the school in Beacon Hill. I don't know whatever happened to anyone else we when all left
I too lived in this home with my 2 sisters and what very happy times we
We had
I lived in Hillgarth from 1949 to 1954. My best mate was Brian Hoadley who was a year younger than me. The people who were in charge of the home were called Gurney. He was a strict disciplinarian whose greatest pleasure was to make children sit on their toy lockers and not speak to anyone. Gosh I hated that man. Oh by the way I was known as Jack Glynn in those days. I remember Brian had a couple of siblings in the home and think their names were Eileen and Sue.
