I’m Edward Jones served in Connaught catering corp in the kitchen from 58-60. Staff Hurley was in charge of the kitchen at this time, he was a very good man. We all used to go to the seven thorns pub. Would like to know if anyone remembers me that was serving at the same time. Would love to catch up.
I joined the Queen Alexandra Nursing Corps in 1958 and came down from Scotland to QA depot at Hindhead. After training at the Dental College, Aldershot was posted to the Dental Centre, Connaught Hospital. My name was then Smith. I was evacuated in 1940 and in 1944 and billeted to Admiral and Lady Freemantle's house named Goldcrest on the A287. Does anyone know the year when the present Goldcrest (an old people's home) was built? Is it the same house that I stayed in during WW2? William Heath
My family lived in a house that I thought was in the devils punchbowl in Hindhead. We lived there late 60's early 70's. I could be mistaken as I was only 7 years old. I believe it was called Hill Lodge. It was off a main road and I remember a large garden before it became nature. My parents then moved to Germany and I attended The Grove school in Hindhead.
