Patterdale House

A Memory of Salford.

Hello, anyone who lived at Patterdale House - I lived at F40, my nanner lived at B29. I went to St Johns Cathedral, my friend was Elizabeth Taylor. She lived in the dwellings on Olfield Road as did my aunty Lizzie. I used to go to the pictures and we had yoyo competitions before the start of the film. I used to ride my bike on the landings, and can remember a girl called Carolyn, she lived on the grouind floor. I was about ten years old. Fond memories.

Hi, I have just read your memories of Patterdale House. I lived at Ennerdale House. I also remember going to Saturday matinee at the Essoldo cinema on Regent Road and going shopping with my mum on Saturday morning to all the shops on Regent Road.We used to go to Brockeys news agents which was just near Regent Road School and then on to the butchers shop a bit further along and to Woolworths and Adsega just near the corner of Trafford Road. Do you remember everyone riding their bikes in that square ground just in front of Patterdale where the phone box was. I also remember the girl called Carolyn. One of my friends were Carol Foster you may remember her she also went to St Johns Cathedral and then on to Sacred Heart, the new school at the time with the footbridge across the road. I have so many good memories of my childhood in Salford.
I used to go to St Johns Cathedral and then Sacred Heart Secondary School (whatever happened to that) seems to have disappeared without a trace... I used to attend the saturday matinees at the essoldo (my highlight of the week) if someone could sneak us in through the fire exit doors. lol.
My gran lived across the road at 34 Edgerton House - the old maisonettes... I had to do her shopping at a butchers which I think was called Wild's ..?? on regent road not far from the essoldo.. Buy her cough medicine (hand made) at Boots on the corner... do you remember the big glass medicine bottles in the window... :) Do you remember a big cafeteria called UCP or something like that - on regent road... we used to eat there every tuesday and saturday with my gran... loved the food... and the smell of the place.. a bit like the school dinners... haha.
what years are you referring to? I am recalling 1960-1967...
