Grandparents Who Were The Perry’s!

A Memory of Selby.

Me and Mrs Perry, Stan and Joyce were my beloved grandparents. You probably had different memories of them to me as I was a spoilt only child of Kathryn Perry, and my auntie Karen Perry. I lost my grandfather aged 4 and my Grandmother at aged 19. And I know they both could find the tiniest scerick of flesh on your body to hit with a ruler when you/I misbehaved!! I would love to hear your stories of them, good and bad, just to get a feel of who they really were! Their humour, intellect etc. I also was in Miss Stafford’s class. She never liked me, I’m assuming this may have been because of my genealogy! 🤣 xx I’d love to hear any stories x

Hi laura,i can picture Mr Perry even today,he gave me a couple of good spankings,i probably deserved them, i remember Mrs Perry but can't picture her.
The point is i have always been led to believe that i was related to them,it was on my dads side of the family, but i am not aware just how close i was related, some have said he and my dad were cousins but i can't verify,as my parents and everybody on my dads side are now longer with us,
Still its nice to here other peoples memories, thank you for sharing them
I’ve just realised glue are a Bradley! My Grandma Joyce was a Bradley before she married Stanley. Unfortunately Joyce passed away in 1998 but her Sister Pamela is still alive and living in Shipley near Bradford. Joyce and Stanley had 2 girls. Kathryn (my mother) and Karen. karen has 2 girls and a boy. We get on well as it’s pretty small family, so if we can find where you fit in, it would be lovely to welcome you into our family xx catch me whattsapp 07804604318
You are most welcome sweetheart. I will do my best to find the missing link, and even if we don’t find it? So what. We found a shared memory, and that is a beautiful thing. My Mum, Kathryn will have the best memories of Stanley, they were thick as thieves. That’s what I remember of him too, he acted like we on an espionage mission to find the cat. Using binoculars etc! Unfortunately he had a heart attack at only 58. I was 4 years old. So if you have anything you remember, I’d be so grateful to
hear them. Many thanks Laura
Hi Laura, i dont know if this counts for anything but I do know Kathryn. My name is Steve Fawcett and I have known your mum on and off for quite a number of years both at school and also when she used to work behind the counter at Boots chemist. WE also lived only three doors apart for a number of years in Myrtle Avenue. Please remember me to her, its nice to stay in touch.
Hi again Laura, hope you are well, sorry it's been a long time since i was last on this website, and i can't recall getting a notification saying you had replied to my post so apologies for that.
Sorry to hear about Joyce, i was always led to believe Joyce was the connection between our two families.
I am not sure how your Grandma and my Dad were related my dad was Paul and he was the son of Harry Bradley, who had his own shop in Selby. It was where the library is now, he was a cobbler, mending shoes and boots and making leather goods, i can smell it now, sadly long gone.
My dad had a sister called Mary who became a Pickering and lived on the courtneys estate in Selby, Mary passed away about 8 years ago now, she was the loveliest person i have ever met, she was always happy and always had time for a chat. My dad sadly died in 2010 aged 83, so as time passes there is less people to gather information from, i have so many gaps that i would love to fill in, and you have done so with your comment.
Not sure what relation we are, something like 5th cousin 2nd time removed or something😂.
Any way thanks for the memory, the smallest piece of info means a lot to me. xxx 💖
