Woods Lane
I can remember the fair, it was brilliant, can also remember playing in the fields all day. Going up to the hollow oak further up the fields, also playing in the fields further along Woods Lane in the brook, getting soaked and plastered in mud before health and safety was such a problem. There were several rope swing over the brook if I remember correctly, suppose they were lethal really, but great fun.

I Met A Good Friend

I have lived in Stapenhill on the estate. I met a friend there and now he is a part of my life. Had some good times and bad but the best was going to my grandma's for tripe and oinoins and she lived in a bungalow in Stapenhill.

The Original Grove Hotel In Stapenhill
When I was about 4 years old in 1948 my Auntie Jess and Uncle Albert (Haynes) ran the Grove Hotel at Stapenhill. It was the original one, not the one which is there now. It was a really lovely old building with the etched glass windows and lovely fittings inside that used to come with a pub in those days. Dug Out Cave
Can anyone remember the cave which was located in a field off Woods Lane Stapenhill? In the late 50's it was an area of trees in middle of field, there was a large cave, never knew if manmade but we used to play in there. If standing in Lomas Farmyard facing Briz vally (now known) it was on your right?

Woods Lane
Can anybody remember the fair that used to come in the summer to the field in Woods Lane in the 1950s? It was the field where the Grove public house now stands. The fair used to come for a week, they used to have swing boats and it was very exciting for us kids, it was something to look forward to in the summer. Happy days.
