More about this scene

Devil's Den, near Marlborough in Wiltshire, is an example of how the ravages of the plough is nothing more than intentional vandalism. Further, it is known that there were at least five more stones in the collection. What has happened to them? The stones have now been restored and partly concreted in place. This was once a magnificent chambered long barrow that was covered with a brilliant white chalk mound. It sits snugly in the Downs near to the Ridgeway and Avebury stone circle.
