More about this scene
Although efforts are now being made to revive the tourist trade, Hastings has a long way to go to recapture its former glory. Perched at the cliff top, the castle-like structure belongs to the East Cliff Railway. Its bright red and yellow cars are now hauled up its near vertical gradient by electricity, but it was built as a water-balance railway.
