More about this scene

The churchyard of St Peter`s parish church at Hope is filled with gravestones commemorating local families, such as the Eyres and the Woodruffes. The church itself dates from Saxon and Norman times, when the village was an important centre of the Royal Forest of the Peak, a hunting preserve of Norman monarchs.
