Yes I lived in Hounslow from 1948 - 1964 Loved living there I lived in Cromwell Road went to Grove Road Infants School then there Junior School then Bulstrode Secondary Modern There was a place called The Butchers Institute for retired Butchers which had beautiful gardens we used to walk pass as we went to the town. I remember going to the shops in Hounslow High street with my mum and dad. The ABC cafe which had rows of perspex boxes with different cakes and sandwiches in each one. MacFisheries, and a department store which I think was called Edmunds - used to have a Father Xmas Grotto there in December. My name is Terry Gosling, I was born in 1940 in St Stephens Road. I attended Grove Road school and after went on to Bulstrode School. I have lost touch with most of my school pals, Reg Pope is still in touch though. We both joined the Royal Navy. My first Saturday job was in a large grocers in Bell Road I cannot remember the name. My Grandad Ken Williams lived in Grove Road, he was a Tube train driver and his best friend was Jack Minty. When I was very small he was married to my Grandma Dorothy Williams who worked at the baths and taught a lot of kids to swim but later he was married to Jean. Does anybody remember me. I was called June Warne. I lived down St Dunstans road, then Cedar Road in Cranford. I we to Cranford Primary School. My name was Gill Evans at that time and lived at 42 Lampton Rd. I had 4 brothers and sister, Jean. See that Rita Pilbrow has written her memories......her sister, Claudette, was friend of mine and I remember her family well. Lots of memories of good times with Claudette. My Grandparents lived at 123 Lampton Road, Bob and Bridget Wales. They owned the Band Centre in Bell Road Hounslow. I lived in 53 bell road till I was 5 them moved to Pears road. Went to Alexandra Infants and then Hounslow Town. I remember all the things people have written. The ice cream parlour was great. We use to live at number 19 Bridge Road. My earliest memory is watching a parrot flying across Greenham's field behind the prefab. We never has a bathroom only a out side loo. Our bath night was on a sunday. A old tin bath infront of the cooker, this had the oven turned on and the door open for warmth, and the wooden clothes horse behind the bath with towels on to stop any draught. Brothers Alf, Arthur Harry Charlie Phil and Peter from Frampton Road from the 1920's- 1930's. A boxing family most of whom joined the navy. Familiar to anyone
Does anyone remember the dance hall over Burtons the tailors spent many an evening there in the early 50s I was working at Firestones on the Great West Road then. Went to Bulstrode school how I hated school couldnt wait to leave. Met My late husband in Lampton park. Does any one remember the bug house cinema as it was called, but it was cheap so often went there. Sorry to say Hounslow has changed so much I havent been there ...see more
