The brick bridge was built by a former rector, Charles Francis, in the earlier 19th century. Behind it, its octagonal lantern rising above the tree line, is the School House, built in 1823 by Robert Abraham, also for Charles Francis. Fourteen years after this photograph was taken, the school closed; the building is now a private dwelling.
