Nostalgic memories of Illingworth's local history

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Winter At School 1962/3

The snow had started falling after lunch I think and just didn't seem to want to stop. As it carried on the buses were called up early to get us all home. Having got on to the bus we seemed to make a short distance along the road along the top and then stopped for what seemed like ages. The Talbot

I used to live at the Talbot Inn. In fact, it was the one and only time I have ever had a ghostly experience, I loved the place. My Dad, was the Landlord. I cried when I found out they had demolished it in 2009. So many happy memories xxxxx
