I was born at Gate Burton Hall in 1941. The only information I have is that my mother was born in Louth and later lived in Hull. I think that she was evacuated there during the war. Does anyone have any information regarding the hall being used as a maternity hospital during the war?

We are looking inland north-eastwards from what is now National Trust land above Burton Cliff, over the Dove Inn and Southover (foreground) to the meadows of the River Bride (centre).
The building with the tall chimney stacks dates from the late 19th century; it was the Maternity Hospital and nursing home until the hospital moved to Burton Hill in 1925.
The village is viewed from the inland side of Burton Cliff, looking north-eastwards from above Dove Inn and Southover, to St Mary's Church (right).
It is not the highest of the Cleveland Hills: Burton Head rises to 1,485 ft, but Roseberry is acknowledged as offering the finest views.
Burton is considered by many to be one of the most picturesque villages in the Wirral, and it is enhanced by the wonderful panorama over the Dee Estuary to the hills of Wales.
Alongside national names such as Timothy Whites, Burton the tailors and Woolworth's, could be found more local enterprises such as White's Tea Lounge a little further up the hill
The road deviates to the right here, to tackle the climb of 150 feet up The Strait and Steep Hill.
Horse trams are slowly climbing the hill on their journey from Tettenhall.
