Italian Prisoners
A Memory of Boston.
On a Sunday night in the war years, especially towards the end, the Haven cinema would have hundreds of Italian prisoners queuing up with us, their clothes had different coloured patches stitched all over their dress. The queue would stretch all the way round to the back gate, if you were at the back of the queue it was ages before you got in, many times you had to sit in the aisles.
Some Sundays we would go to Kirton for a bike ride, to visit the Italian workers at the Kirton Gas Works.
