4 Generations

this is my 3rd attempt to record this. My grandparents honeymooned in Minnis Bay in 1925. Just before WW2 my Dad stayed at the Minnis Bay hotel as a Marine Commando and did some training prior to D Day Landings. Does anyone know where the hotel was? Apparently there was a parade square outside.

Caption For Rhos On Sea, Rhos Road C1955

Rhos-on-Sea was the poorer cousin to nearby Colwyn Bay, yet it still manages an identity of its own.

As with many natural rock formations along the coast, the wind and sea sometimes takes its toll - the King Rock has now collapsed.

Caption For Robin Hoods Bay, Town And Bay 1927

Part of the village is clustered around the top of a ravine; notice the steep flight of steps in the lower foreground dropping away down toward the sea.

Caption For Robin Hoods Bay, 1927

One of the reasons why Robin Hood's Bay proved to be a popular haunt for artists is the picturesque cluster of red-roofed cottages perched somewhat precariously on the cliffs.

Caption For Crantock, West Pentire Hotel 1936

The West Pentire Hotel is a conspicuous landmark in this otherwise bleak view across fields to the sea beyond Crantock Beach, with East Pentire Point on the right.

Delightfully neat and compact in appearance, the buildings that jostle shoulder to shoulder along the street are deceptively older than they look.

Caption For Hayle, Towans 1927

With such a fine view across the bay to St Ives, it is little surprise that holidaymakers should have come to camp at Hayle Towans.
