More about this scene
A lone elderly oarsman reflects on life on the still waters of the little bay below Wray Castle and its impressive ornate boathouse. The boat is typical of many used on Windermere, for the purposes of both traditional char fishing and hire to visitors. Raised on its knoll above Watbarrow Point, the castle has a fairy-tale appearance.
