1941 59 - a Memory of Addlestone.
I lived in Bois Hall Road from 1941-1959,when I left Addlestone to work in London.
I have very fond memories of growing up in Addlestone, although I hated school, with the exception of Oaklands, I think it was called, which was wonderfull, making camps and dens in the grounds.
Does anyone remember any of the teachers in St Pauls school? Mrs Randal, who used to back comb her hair with her fingers, headmistress Miss Butler, one teacher I did like was Mrs Bullock who taught us French.
Several people that I remember growing up were,Joyce Chadwick,Sheila Holden,Jill Bish,Anita Caliscie!!Anne Jones,Janet Brooks.Kathleen Jackson.
Our favourite time was when the fair arrived in Smiths field which our house backed onto, memories of the big wheel, of the smells of candy floss, toffee apples, roll a penny, hook a duck,I was never brave enough to go on the ghost train though.
Lovely to reminisce.

Not sure what to write? It's easy - just think of an important place in your life and ask yourself:
How does it feature in your personal history?
What are your best memories of this place?
How has it changed over the years?
How does it feel, seeing these places again?
Do you remember stories about the community, its history and people?
