More about this scene
Addlestone grew up in the mid 19th century with the arrival of the railway, when a few villas and many more terraces and pairs of artisan houses were built. The town was greatly augmented by 20th-century suburban housing. This peaceful picture of Addlestone is in sharp contrast to the busy Thames-side village of today, which is close to the M25 motorway.
