Andover, Bridge Street 1913

More about this scene
The bridge was not always as level, strong and wide as this. In 1758 the old bridge was restricted to pedestrians and horses by a bar and lamp directing wagons and coaches behind the railings into the ford. When a strong bridge was built, the ford became redundant; the Methodist Church has stood there on the ramp since 1905.
