More about this scene
The British School of 1859, demolished in the late 1960s, was much like the National School, now Andover Primary School (C of E Controlled) which still thrives today in lower East Street. PLB Architects of Winchester extended East Street School in 2000 for Hampshire County Council, creating a pleasant polychromatic construction popularised by William Butterfield in the 1850s. The building is a fine example of its type, sympathetically adapted for today.
