More about this scene

There are various family portraits inside the castle, some of them dating back to the Wars of the Roses. The Norfolks have lived at Arundel since the 16th century: according to the plaque at the bottom of the High Street, 'Since William rose and Harold fell, There have been Earls at Arundel'

A Selection of Memories from Arundel

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Arundel

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

This is my Grandfather Joseph Smith and my two Great Aunts, Kathleen and Josephine. He was about 12 in this picture. They lived yards from where this was taken in the lodge at Arundel Park gates. My great Grandfather, William, was a groom to the then Duke of Norfolk (Henry) and Great Granmother, Kate, was a domestic. I have spent many happy times in Arundel and continue to visit.
