More about this scene
On the east side of Market Square was the Bull's Head Hotel, a mostly late 18th-century building which was Tudorised by Giacomo Gargini in the 1920s. A flamboyant character, and Mayor of Aylesbury in the 1930s, Gargini added the half-timbering, leaded windows and oriels, presumably to rival the genuine medieval framing of the King's Head. Demolished in 1969, it is now the entry to the early 1980s Hale Leys shopping centre.
