More about this scene
Standing at the foot of Pendle Hill, which is 1835ft high and just short of being a mountain, the stone-built Pendle Inn is in the centre of Barley, the heart of Pendle Witch country. Near the inn is a field which is said to have been used by the witches. Legend has it that the ground is poisoned, so the field has never been cultivated.
