I was at Woodruff School from 1951 to 1955. In 1955 we went on a school trip to London by BEA Vickers Viscount from Elmdon (Birmingham) Airport. It was a wonderful experience for an 8 year old. I have a group photo taken in Trafalgar Square feeding the pigeons, and would love to share it, but would appear unable to do so on this site.
I was a pupil between 1942 and 1944. My name then was Barbara Brown and I lived in Redditch, travelling each day by train. I went to Woodruff because my father had also attended the school (Walter Brown, around 1907 to 1908). He went on to King Edwards Grammar School before serving in WW1. I lived in Barnt Green from 1940 to 1961.i attended Woodruffe School, and have many happy memories of miss Matthews and Miss Woodruffe,
My grandmother worked for Dr Blair, Barnt Green in the early 1940's. She returned to North Wales and stayed in touch with the family for a long period. Does anyone know the whereabouts of where Dr Blair lived, or any information about the area during the 1940's? Thanks, Kristy.
