Here we see the feeder stream and the lily stream at the lake; note the clean appearance of its surrounds. Seating around the lake was owned by Messrs Shanley, who also had the licence for the running of the swimming pool.

I spent many happy hours in the late 1940's rowing on the Knap Lake. At the time I
was living in what was then called Cold Knap Farm (now Cole Farm), my father being the gardener to the owners of the White House. I lived there from birth to my marriage in 1959 and my parents moved out in the late 1960's when my father retired.
As kids we'd sail our toy boats on the feeder to the lake. Simple pleasures, great fun, without computers !
