Remember This School Vividly

A Memory of Basildon.

I remember going to this school not long after it opened, I went to school with a girl called Magdeline Wrenn who was my best friend at the time, unfortunately my parents decided to emigrate to Australia, and we left Tilbury Docks Xmas Eve 1960 arriving Australia Day January 26th 1961 though I have been back to the UK I have never had the time to visit Basildon, would love to know where Magdaline Wrenn is and what she has done over the last50 odd years, my maiden name was Pauline Barnett I now reside in Kangaroo Flat Victoria Australia.

Hi. Typed in 'Woodlands' just to see what it brought up, and came across your posting. Although your name doesn't ring a bell, I remember Magdeline - didn't she get a lift to school with Mrs Strachan, the art teacher. I started at the school in 1959. I have had two friends round this afternoon - Joan (Humphreys) and Sheila Williams. We met up again recently after all moving away and only exchanging Christmas cards. Do you keep in contact with anyone from those days. Jane (Markham)

Hi Jane, haven't had any contact with any one from school days the only person I remember is Magadaline, I remember going to her house after school and holiday time I know she was an only child I have looked on facebook but of course she could have married and have a different surname

Hi Pauline, I remember Magdeline I also remember a Pauline that emigrated to Australia, my name was Jackie Nash it's Mansfield now. Was friends with Brenda Griggs, she cried all the way home the day Pauline left school to emigrate. Wonder if it was you.

My name was Susan Lowe, 'now Barrett' I attended woodlands from 1960/61 until 1966. My form teacher for most of that time was Mrs Strachan. In my last year my form teacher was Mr Whitehead. I've tried to find information about my fellow class mates and friends, but to no avail. If anyone does remember me it would be lovely to hear from you.

I do remember the teachers would be nice to know what happened to Magdaline I also tried searching Facebook, I suppose like me she might of moved overseas

Hi Jackie, yes that was me, apart from Magadaline I don't remember many others I remember the school vividly , didn't keep in touch with anyone
