More about this scene
Further along the towpath, past the section through Sydney Gardens, the canal passes under the Warminster Road, almost converging with the Great Western Railway line. In the foreground is the Humane Society's Station. The church tower is that of St Saviour's at Larkhall, consecrated in 1832, with its tall west tower imitating medieval Somerset ones.
