More about this scene
Standing at the mouth of the River Deben, this opulent mansion was built by Sir Cuthbert Quilter in five stages between 1886 and 1904. This accounts for the impression that two different houses have been joined together. On the terrace is the newly built teahouse, with a copper dome. The arch at the bottom of the terrace is a sheltered seating area.
