A Little Historical Background Of Beaumont's Hall, Pakenham, Suffolk

A Memory of Beaumont's Hall.

My great grand aunt and uncle worked at Beaumonts Hall, Pakenham during their lifetime. Alfred and Margaret (nee Smith) Rolfe lived in or near Beaumonts Hall, possibly within the Hall grounds. Margaret was my great grandfather's sister. Alfred worked as a Horsekeeper at the Hall for around 30 years and Margaret worked as Housekeeper there at one stage. Census records from 1911, 1921 and 1939 show this. The records show George Richard Burt was the farmer who lived at Beaumonts Hall in 1911, so I did a little research on George. He was born in 1862 in Pakenham and was the farmer of Beaumonts Hall from at least 1891. He doesn't appear to have married and he died in 1918. He is buried in St Andrews Churchyard, Norton, Suffolk. This led me to look at who ran Beaumonts Hall after 1918. It would appear Reginald Marriage (born 1880 in Springfield, Essex) was the farmer there in 1925 and still in 1939 according to the records. It is possible he took over after George's death in 1918, as he is recorded as being there in 1921. Reginald died in 1970.
