More about this scene
The building on the far left was demolished for the 1950s Debenhams. Silver Street, between it and the Bedford Palace, is now a pedestrianised shopping precinct. The Palace, a cinema, was showing 'The Black Secret' in 1921; it was rebuilt in the 1960s as a four-storey block. The buildings to the right of the smart white-gloved policemen went in the 1960s.
