Bellshill Maternity Hospital

A Memory of Bellshill.

My Mother was born here on 9th November 1919. Her Mother died of Puerperal Fever two weeks Later. I was born here also o 4th November 1943. Mum told me there were sandbags around the Hospital Windows as the Shipyards on the Clyde had been bomber heavily by the Germans. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the Hospital. Interestingly, a young Nurse from Australia who was my Niece's friend in Perth WA went to work in the new Maternity Hospital in the 1990s. My Niece had no idea of the family link to either Bellshill or the Hospital.
