More about this scene
In the earlier years of the 20th century, Bere Regis had a reputation as the toughest town in Dorset, forcefully policed by the local constabulary. Popular belief is that the rowdyism was encouraged by the presence of the nearby Woodbury Hill Fair. Today, Bere Regis is a charming and peaceful village.
