Bexley Technical School For Girls 1945 To 1947
A Memory of Bexleyheath.
I lived at Welling and went to Little Danson School and Hook Lane School. When I was 11 years old in 1942 I went to Westwood Girls Secondary School until 1945. I was then 14 and could have gone to work, but I took the entrance exam for the ‘Tec and spent two happy years there. I left at 16 having completed the commercial course and went to work for a large firm of Solicitors in London as a Junior Secretary. I wonder if any girls now leave the Bexley Grammar School in Townley Road ready to earn a living? I remember Miss Pike who was a dragon. She took me for Bookkeeping which I hated and when I left the ‘Tec I tore my books up and determined never to get a job which entailed bookkeeping! My maiden name was Cynthia Enticknap and I am still in touch with form mates June Abraham’s (Canada) and Irene Dummer (Gloucestershire ). I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I am now 87 years old and have been living in Lincolnshire since 1974. I have two children, four grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
