More about this scene
A church is known to have stood on this site in the 14th century, but only the base of its tower survives. It was incorporated into this classical-style building by Francis Goodwin, which was completed in 1826. St Leonard's is actually built of brick; it was only in 1883 that it acquired its present appearance when it was cement-rendered.
